No-clip mode disables your character's collision so you can pass through walls, floors, and any other geometry. It is perfect for escaping a spot where you are stuck, exploring otherwise sealed areas, or flying across the map. The command is tcl — Toggle Collision.
How to use no-clip
- Open the console with the tilde key (
~) — see the open the console guide. - Make sure nothing is selected (click empty space if needed), then type
tcland pressEnter. - Close the console. You can now walk through walls; look up and move forward to fly upward, look down to descend.
- Type
tclagain to restore collision when you are done.
Notes & tips
- Always turn collision back on before saving in a normal spot — otherwise you may load back inside terrain.
- If an NPC is targeted,
tcltoggles its collision instead of yours. Deselect first to affect your own character. - Pair it with god mode (
tgm) so falling or clipping into hazards cannot hurt you, or usetfcfor a detached free camera. - See the full command list for more movement and debug toggles.
Frequently asked questions
What is the no-clip command in Skyrim?
The command is tcl (Toggle Collision). With it on, your character ignores walls, floors and other obstacles, letting you walk through them and float freely. Type tcl again to turn collision back on.
How do I fly with tcl?
Once collision is off, look up and move forward to rise, look down to descend. You drift in whatever direction you face, so you can fly anywhere on the map.
Can I use tcl to escape getting stuck?
Yes — that is one of its most common uses. If you fall through the world or get wedged in scenery, toggle tcl, move to a safe spot, then toggle it off to restore collision.
Does tcl affect NPCs?
If you have an NPC targeted when you run tcl, it can toggle that NPC's collision instead of yours. Click away first, or make sure nothing is selected, to toggle your own collision.
