About This Calculator
This potion calculator uses Skyrim's actual alchemy formula to predict the magnitude and duration of your crafted potions before you brew them. The formula accounts for your Alchemy skill level, the Alchemist perk (ranks 1–5), the Physician, Benefactor, and Poisoner perks, and any Fortify Alchemy enchantments on your gear.
How Skyrim Alchemy Works
A potion gains every effect that two or more of its ingredients share. The strength of each effect depends on your Alchemy skill: at skill 15 (the starting level), potions are at base strength. At skill 100 they are 50% stronger. The Alchemist perk doubles this at rank 5, and stacking Fortify Alchemy enchantments on a helmet, ring, amulet, and gloves multiplies everything further.
Fortify Alchemy Stacking
You can equip up to four items with Fortify Alchemy enchantments (helmet, gloves, ring, amulet). Each adds to the total percentage shown in the calculator above. The Seeker of Shadows standing stone adds a further 10%. Enter the combined percentage from all equipped gear.
